Rode Bird Gardens

Tropical Birds from around the world Enjoy a day out amongst hundreds of exotic birds, many at liberty in 17 acres of beautiful surroundings, including woodland, lakes and flower gardens. The collection at Rode Bird Gardens numbers approximately 1200 birds in over 200 different species. Many of these species are rare or endangered and form part of captive breeding programmes. The aviaries which are all outdoors, are designed to blend in with the natural surroundings of the Rode Bird Gardens. There are ornamental pheasants at liberty in the woods and a chain of lakes, fed by a stream and waterfall, that are a sanctuary for all kinds of swimming and diving water birds, including flamingoes and penguins. Macaws fly freely among the trees and the Woodland Steam Railway weaves its way across lawns and through the woodlands, after leaving Woodland Central Station, for some 2/3 of a mile. There is also a childrens play area, pets corner, Clematis Collection, Gift shop and home cooked food in the licensed "Parrot Room".
